The Spanish Prime Minister proposed that the University of Salamanca shall host the opening of the academic year 2017-2018.
The Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, visited Salamanca to reinforce his support for the Executive to commemorate the eighth centenary of the University. He did so chairing the plenary session of the Interagency Commission. The Prime Minister´s message conveyed of his total support for the celebration. He also advocated for the creation of a space for reflection. Its role would be to improve University’s involvement in the society. Rajoy considers the celebration of the VIII Centenary as a “target state” and a good opportunity to improve the Spanish university system.
For now, the Prime Minister proposed that in 2018 the University of Salamanca shall host the opening of the academic year 2017-2018, as he considers the University to be “a source of knowledge that has been present in the major milestones of the Spanish history and culture.”
