Holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Salamanca, Parra has extensive experience in the private sector, working in research, development, innovation and the digital domain.
I would like to congratulate one of the BISITE members, Alfonso González Briones who received the second prize sponsored by Sensors, I SENSORS+CIRTI Award for the best national thesis on Smart Cities at the Conference of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAEPIA), which had been held in Granada in October.

This is a promising year and thanks to the numerous businesses that believe in us, we have managed to promote the group, triple our financing and the number of BISITE members.
I’m currently at the IEEE Globecom Conference, which takes place in Abu Dhabi. It is possibly the largest scientific gathering in the field of Communications. Artificial intelligence and computer science are beginning to play an increasingly important role in this event and we’re here to learn from the experts in this field, to find out what other research groups are doing and to present our work.
Our BISITE Grupo participated in the Local Hack Day, which took place on the 1st of December and was organized by the Association of Computing Machines (ACM) of the University of Salamanca. This is a worldwide hackathon that gathers many ideas, projects and a lot of imagination.
Big cities like Moscow or Singapore, are undertaking changes and promoting and accelerating their transformation to become exemplary smart cities. Some of their objectives include Security, Energetic Efficiency, improved traffic management, etc.
Blockchain is penetrating many sectors thanks to its security and transparency. These powerful qualities facilitate its application to different areas. Blockchain allows to manage information and carry out operations with complete security, for this reason, emblematic sectors, like the bank and finances, are the pioneers in the use of this technology and the leaders of many investigations.
A delegation from the Argentinian Province of Cordoba, led by the Secretary for Industry, Pablo de Chiara, visited our laboratory to learn about the Technological Transfer model that our group is developing. We presented some of our projects to them and told them about our participation in the Digital Innovation Hub.
