The diseases that pose a challenge to today’s medicine have, to a large extent, a genetic origin or component. Therein the importance of early detection of genetic factors that may trigger the development of a disease.
This will be the 34th ACM/SIGAPP Symposium on Applied Computing, held in Limassol (Cyprus) from 8th to 12th of August 2019. I am pleased to be part of the organizing committee of the bioinformatics track, together with Paola Lecca and Dan Tulpan. This internationally renowned congress will once again bring together great researchers in the field of applied programming.
One of the most important lines of research in our research group is that of bioinformatics, a discipline that uses computer tools for the study of biology. Other fields of science and medical, pharmaceutical, biological industries etc. use the advances made in this area of research to improve their activities.
