Javier Prieto joins the Salamanca City Council’s talent recruitment programme, to develop his project in the BISITE Group
I wanted to congratulate Javier Prieto, who has successfully become the fourth researcher in the programa de atracción del talento (talent recruitment program) launched by Salamanca’s City Council.
Today I wanted to tell you about our collaboration with Saya Fujino. She has been with us since several months and we are very glad to have her in our group.
Recently we have been receiving many international visitants at our labs. Some researchers come for short stays while others come for longer periods, as in the case of Denisa Kera, who will be with us until 2020. She comes from Charles University, Prague. Dr. Kera is a philosopher and designer and experiments with various creative strategies for public participation in emerging issues of science and technology.
In recent years, the energy sector has been subject to many controversies among citizens. The price of “light” and the excess contamination caused by non-renewable energy sources are the themes of never-ending public debates. Researchers in this field work on creating systems that reduce expenses and contamination through the increased use of renewable energies.
The artificial intelligence shown in old science fiction movies is rapidly converting into a reality, a process that has started a few years ago. Machines can already reason and perform tasks that closely imitate human behaviour. One of the priorities of the researchers at BISITE is to work for the autonomy and connection of electronic devices.
Technological development has taken us beyond the simple connection between people and is evolving towards a connection between all kinds of objects. Thanks to sensors and other types of mechanisms, it is possible for objects to interconnect and interact with each other.
On the 26th of September, at the Sorbonne, Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, presented his vision of the European project and proposed a series of ideas for the European Union.
Artificial intelligence is in full swing and the world’s artificial intelligence researchers are currently gathering in Stockholm for the year’s largest event in this field, IJCAI (International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence). Hundreds of events take place at this conference, they tackle very interesting and topical issues.
Daniel Lopez, our colleague from BISITE, wins the FINTECH competition organized by the Russian Bank SBERBANK
The competition consisted in identifying a series of data analysis models and adapting their parameters to predict a series of financial parameters. Daniel managed to defeat even his biggest rivals. This contest was held within the framework of the ICML congress (https://icml.cc/) held in Stockholm in which we have participated.
