Technology is advancing rapidly, now faster than ever. It may seem to many that
researchers are now trying to implement Artificial Intelligence in almost every kind of
object. This however is not entirely true. Those of us who have been working in the
field of Artificial Intelligence for long, know that since decades it has been a
fundamental element of many systems and that it took different shapes and forms as it envolved.
The Hackathon Cogs for Good took place today as part of the activities proposed in the Country Project and in which the BISITE Research Group participates on the behalf of the University of Salamanca, together with other institutions such as the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Pontifical University of Comillas and the Next International Business School.
On April 12th I will participate in the VII edition of the Smart Energy Congress which will take place in the Palacio Municipal de Congresos in Madrid on the 11th and 12th of April. This time, the congress will focus on the topic of “Digital Transformation, leading Energy Efficiency”.
Yesterday, March 15th, I had the pleasure of attending a workshop at the EFREI School of Engineering. Together with my colleagues from this and other European universities, we promoted several international projects related to Blockchain, IoT and Smart Cities.
It is curious to see the expertise of this type of schools in France; the importance they give to quality master’s degrees and practical training, their model of internships in companies is also very interesting.
It was a huge pleasure to have Luis Pérez lead this morning’s training session. He is the creator of the IBM company and he presented us with the services available in his IBM Cloud (Iaas, Runtimes, DevOps, Analytics, IoT, Watson,Bluemix) and the Watson Cognitive Services.
On the 2nd of March an awards ceremony was held in order to deliver prizes to the participants of the 2017 Edition of the competition “Desafío Universidad Empresa” (Company-University Challenge), which is organized by the University-Company Knowledge Transfer Program.
New technologies have an increasingly significant impact on our lives. They not only change the way we communicate with one another, but also many other aspects of our day to day, such as our social and shopping habits. Searching for employment and the recruitment of workers have also been revolutionized, since new technologies provide new ways of finding talented employees wherever they are. This aspect turns the internet into a global tool.
