Royal Academy of Medicine
Dr. María Fernanda Lorenzo Gómez, specialist in Urology and Head of Service at the University HealthCare Complex of Salamanca, has joined the Royal Academy of Medicine of Salamanca (RAMSA) as a corresponding academic.

The act of incorporation took place last Thursday, in the Aula Unamuno de las Escuelas Mayores of the University of Salamanca, and the new academic delivered the speech “Contribution of vaccines in the management of urinary tract infection”. An interesting presentation to which Clemente Muriel Villoria, a member of the academy, made a reply.

Fernanda Lorenzo assured that joining the RAMSA is a “priceless reward” and in her acceptance speech she did not miss the opportunity to demand improvements for doctors who are cut off by bureaucratic procedures.

With the admission of María Fernanda Lorenzo, the Royal Academy of Medicine of Salamanca further enriches its excellent list of academicians and increases the presence of women, a reflection of the growing importance of women in all disciplines, also in the field of medicine. The incorporation of the urologist María Fernanda Lorenzo adds to the recent joining of the hematologist María Victoria Mateos. Soon Bertha Gutiérrez will also join RAMSA as representative of the History of Medicine. My sincere congratulations to all of them, it is an honor to be their colleague.
