Juan Manuel Corchado and Pedro Luis Sánchez discuss AI challenges in Quod Natura

On Friday, 30 June, the 62nd transmission of Quod Natura was held. Quod Natura is an online programme of Alumni USAL, organised in collaboration with the Salamanca Town Council and the University of Salamanca. I participated in the programme as the Director of the BISITE Research Group, together with Pedro Luis Sánchez, Professor at the University of Salamanca and Head of the Cardiology Service at the University Hospital of Salamanca.

Thank you, Alumni, and thank you, Sergio, for inviting me to participate in your programme. Being there, together with my colleague Pedro Luis, has been a great experience. I had a great time talking about the potential of Artificial Intelligence in the field of medicine. We have a promising future ahead of us, in which Generative Artificial Intelligence will become a great tool to support the tremendous work being done in our hospitals and health centres.

I am convinced that all this uncertainty and even mistrust regarding the new AI will be mitigated by great successes and that together we will lay the necessary foundations for common sense to guide the development of decision support systems in the medical field.

At the University Hospital of Salamanca and IBSAL there are many exciting projects underway and, in this ecosystem, there will be great opportunities to develop interdisciplinary projects in which the patient will always be placed at the centre.

It has been an interesting evening and once again, thank you for the invitation.
