Alok Shrestha is on a research stay at BISITE Group to finalise his research and graduation thesis at the Osaka Institute of Technology.
Alok’s work explores how to use a transparent augmented reality device (HMD) that can estimate a user’s gaze to show them personalised advertisements based on their unconscious interests.

Alok classifies interests into conscious, preconscious and unconscious, and aims to capture interests at the unconscious level, which are difficult to elicit, but have a high potential for engagement and satisfaction. Alok conducts two experiments with subjects using the HMD and viewing different advertisements on a screen and calculates an interest index for each advertisement and subject based on dynamic and static information from their gaze behaviour. He also finds a positive correlation between the interest index and subjects’ preferences for conscious and preconscious interest,
This work is an example of the innovative and interdisciplinary research being conducted at Bisite Research Group, where emerging technologies such as augmented reality are combined with psychology and marketing expertise to create unique and impactful experiences for users.
