BISITE, the AIR Institute and the University of Caldas organise the international conference on Smart Cities SSCt2023

We continue to work on the organisation of the Sustainable Smart Cities and Territories International Conference (SSCt), an event organised by the BISITE Research Group, AIR Institute, the IoT Digital Innovation Hub and the University of Caldas (Colombia), which will host this year’s conference.

Hundreds of researchers will gather in the city of Manizales from 21 to 23 June 2023 to present and discuss the latest scientific and technical advances in the fields of Smart Cities and Smart Territories. In this field, the most promising trend is the creation of smart micro-territories, defined as small high-tech cities, districts or satellite cities close to megacities. With the current availability of an enormous amount of data, the challenge is to identify smart and adaptive means of combining information to create valuable insights.

Research and innovation in smart cities

In this regard, there will be talks, workshops and other activities aimed at discussing new developments in smart cities. The keynote lectures will be given by Dr. Yves Demazeau, who is Director of Research at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Visiting Professor at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Yves Demazeau is also a member of EurAI and Doctor Honoris Causa of SDU. He is one of the pioneers in the field of multi-agent systems (MAS), one of the ten branches of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in which the professor has 40 years of experience.

Dr. Carlos Fernando da Silva Ramos will participate with a Keynote at SSCt2023. Carlos holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Porto (Portugal) where he was also assistant and professor. He was vice-president of the Polytechnic University of Porto, being responsible for the areas of Research, Innovation and Internationalisation. His R&D projects focus on Artificial Intelligence.

In addition to attending interesting talks, participants will be able to enjoy the “Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia”, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Manizales is an Andean city located in what is known as the Coffee Axis, one of the most biodiverse regions in the world.

It will undoubtedly be a very interesting event in which we invite you to participate, either through articles related to the topics to be addressed at the conference, project abstracts or doctoral theses.

Here you will find more details about the dates, topics and requirements of the call for papers.
