This morning the conference “Boosting Research in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity” took place in the “La Enredadera” space of Red.es. This event aims to focus on the opportunities and challenges that these technological disciplines represent for the economy, companies and society.

The event was attended by authorities and prominent figures such as the First Vice-President and Minister for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño; the Minister for Universities, Joan Subirats; the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas; the President of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities, Juan Romo, and the Director of the National Cybersecurity Institute, Félix Barrio. Specialists in the sector were also present, including Juan Manuel Corchado, director of the BISITE Research Group and president of the AIR Institute, who directs important projects related to cybersecurity.

Presentation of the ENIA chairs
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the 16 chairs in Artificial Intelligence and another 16 in Cybersecurity. The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (ENIA) is one of the pillars of the Spain Digital Agenda 2026 and one of the components of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the Spanish economy, which seeks to provide a reference framework for the development of an inclusive, sustainable and citizen-centred AI.
In this regard, the Minister of Universities announced that 16 million euros have been earmarked to promote the existence of these chairs, which will also benefit 150 researchers. Spanish universities will be able to apply for these 32 ENIA chairs in the next few days.
For her part, the vice-president emphasized concepts such as knowledge transfer and the promotion of national talent in AI and cybersecurity.
Events like this show the importance of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity for our society, and public institutions are very aware of this. At the BISITE Research Group we have been successfully training computer security professionals for several years now thanks to our Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, thanks to the support of renowned professionals such as Whitehackers or forensic experts from benchmark companies in the sector.
