The International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and its Application on Media (ISAIAM 2022) was held this weekend. The event, organised by Xijing University and co-organised by the AEIC Academic Exchange Centre, was held virtually from 10 to 12 June. Juan Manuel Corchado, director of the BISITE Research Group and president of the AIR Institute, participated as a speaker to present some of the uses and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it has been key to the development of the projects of our research group.

The conference focused on the research fields of artificial intelligence and intelligent media, in addition to providing experts, academics, engineers from different universities, research institutes and companies with a platform for sharing academic research results, exploring cutting-edge engineering issues and discussing current opportunities and challenges. To promote international cooperation and communication and the industrialisation of scientific research results.

Application of AI in BISITE projects

Juan Manuel Corchado has presented several projects that we are developing in BISITE. As a research group, we are specialised in the development of artificial intelligence tools and we work in different areas such as biomedicine, robotics, cybersecurity, fintech or blockchain. Several demonstrations of the latest technologies developed by the AIR Institute were also given.

During the session, in which Corchado participated as keynote speaker, Noixion, iMira and WDiarium, were presented. In these three platforms, technologies such as AI and Blockchain are used for the audiovisual aspects and for news publication. In summary, Noixion.tv is a video-on-demand platform where any creator can upload their content and monetise it using cryptocurrencies and their own token. iMira.net, meanwhile, allows for the creation of private rooms where users can share content and jointly view everything from sporting events to congresses and film cycles. Lastly, WDiarium.com is a digital newspaper in which anyone can publish their articles and monetise them. The technology used in this tool makes it possible to control news items and to produce news items automatically from sources from all over the world.

It was an excellent opportunity to underscore the impact of artificial intelligence and all that we have achieved thanks to it.

J. M. Corchado ha sido presidente de la asociación IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics, y coordinador académico del Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Arte y Tecnología de la Animación de la Universidad de Salamanca e investigador en las Universidades de Paisley (UK), Vigo (Spain) y en el Plymouth Marine Laboratory (UK). En la actualidad compagina toda su actividad con la dirección de los programas de Máster en Seguridad, Animación Digital, Telefonía Movil, Dirección de Sistemas de Información, Internet de las Cosas, Social Media, Diseño e Impresión 3D, Blockchain, Z System, Industria 4.0, Gestión de Proyectos Ágiles y Smart Cities & Intelligent Buildings​, en la Universidad de Salamanca y su trabajo como editor jefe de las revistas ADCAIJ (Advances in Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence Journal), OJCST (Oriental Journal of Computer Science and Technology) o Electronics MDPI (Computer Science & Engineering section). J. M. Corchado desarrolla principalmente trabajos en proyectos relacionados con Inteligencia Artificial, Machine Learning, Blockchain, IoT, Fog Computing, Edge Computing, Smart Cities, Smart Grids y Análisis de sentimiento.
