The Minister for Territorial Policy and Spokesperson of the Government of Spain, Isabel Rodríguez, attended an institutional meeting this week in Salamanca. The director of the BISITE Research Group and president of the AIR Institute, Juan Manuel Corchado, took this opportunity to present, to the Minister, a proposal under the title “Transversal platform for the management of Agro Industry 4.0 based on IIoT, Big Data Analytics, Edge Computing and Augmented Reality”.

This presentation took place at CIALE and was attended by the delegate of Transfer of the University of Salamanca, Óscar Lorenzo, who also presented some of the projects, infrastructures and potential of the academic institution of higher education that could fit in the calls financed with the Next Generation EU recovery funds.

Also present at the meeting were the Vice Rector for Research and Transfer, José Miguel Mateos Roco; the Vice Rector for Quality and Undergraduate Education, María José Rodríguez Conde; the CIALE management team, José Martínez Fernández (Director), María Rosa Hermosa Prieto (Deputy Director) and Ernesto Pérez Benito (Secretary); the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Fernando Rodríguez.
The “Transversal Platform for the management of AgroIndustry 4.0 based on IIoT, Big Data Analytics, Edge Computing and Augmented Reality” is a project that aims to lead the industrialization of the primary sector in Spain. The initiative seeks funding from the Agrifood PERTE, which, as Minister Rodriguez highlighted at the end of the meeting, will allocate 15% of the 1,000 million budget to science and innovation.
