Cyber intelligence is based on the search for and analysis of information aimed at preventing attacks or threats in the cyberspace. Manuel López Pérez, cybersecurity analyst at the BISITE Research Group participates in Module 5 of C1b3rWall Academy 2021 and has delivered a lecture on ” Introduction to Threat Intelligence”. The goal of cyber intelligence is to help mitigate potential attacks and harmful events occurring in the cyberspace. This process begins with the collection of data and information about the threats coming from a variety of sources.

Why is cyber intelligence important?

Thanks to threat intelligence, which makes it possible to predict future attacks, organizers can take a proactive role. Without understanding security vulnerabilities, threat indicators and how threats are carried out, it is impossible to effectively combat cyberattacks.

Cyber intelligence solutions can be created through automated data collection and processing, taking structured data from other sources and providing context to the data. Therefore, if we are prepared and anticipate attacks instead of waiting for them, we can save big costs in the future by having increased network security.

A cybersecurity analyst is capable of classifying security incident data collected from different threat intelligence sources and of studying the pattern of attacks, their methodology, motive, severity and threat landscape.
