C1b3rWall Academy continues with interesting lectures in the field of cybersecurity, blockchain, artificial intelligence, among other technologies. Module 4 of the program is based on “Programming languages oriented to cybersecurity”. This time Carlos Morales Diego from Deloitte explains what PowerShell is, and talks about its benefits and uses in different areas.

Carlos Morales Diego has been working at Deloitte since October 2017, where he performs tasks of computer forensics, and incident response. He is taking part in IT developments and in the making expert reports for the firm’s potential clients. He is a member of the Core Team of Alastria, Spanish Blockchain Permissioned Network, where Deloitte is a partner.

What is PowerShell

PowerShell is a cross-platform task automation solution consisting of a command line shell, a scripting language and a configuration management framework. The goal of this keynote is to learn about the benefits of PowerShell when working in any area of cybersecurity.

It is an integral part of most operating systems and an important part of different areas of cybersecurity. PowerShell training, therefore, is an important aspect to consider when engaging in cybersecurity.

It is deeply integrated with Microsoft .NET Framework and, in turn, provides hackers with an ideal platform for accessing Windows environments. In addition, it offers remote management, automation and is very easy to extend thanks to its modules.

Using PowerShell in different areas

For computer administration: it facilitates the principle of least privilege.

Forensics: when faced with a security breach, we can understand, thanks to PowerShell, the information recovery process and how the attackers entered the system.

Hacking: the same ingredients that are a great tool for administrators are just as useful for hackers. In hacking, the stealthy collection of user data is made possible by PowerShell scripts. The benefits are that, by learning its commands, you will understand how hackers work and it will be a little easier to block potential attacks.

The benefits of PowerShell are countless. You can learn about them all with the lecture presented by Carlos in C1b3rWall Academy 2021, register for free at this link.
