Do you know what a Man in the Middle attack is and how to prevent it?

Module 1 of the C1b3rWall Academy on networks and architectures delves into the most common cybersecurity issues and the possible solutions that can be implemented by users or companies.

Pablo Plaza Martínez, cybersecurity analyst at the University of Salamanca, member of the Spanish cybersecurity team and contestant in national and international CTF competitions, will give a keynote lecture entitled “Man in the Middle. Changing requests on the fly” which belongs to Module 1 of C1b3rWall Academy 2021: “Networks and architectures”.

A Man in the Middle Attack refers to breaking into the communication between two computers so that all traffic passes through the attacker. This allows data theft, reading and modification of communications. ARP poisoning is the most common technique.

It has been proven that even downloaded files can be easily modified, jeopardizing users’ devices. This is why it is so important to connect to trusted networks, use encrypted communications such as HTTPS protocol and check the integrity of downloaded files.
