Researchers from the BISITE Research Group are participating in the development of a platform that will help position extensive cattle farming on the market, in addition to ensuring the economic sustainability of these farms.

The SOSTVAN project advocates for the sustainable production of suckler cows, ensuring the animals’ welfare. From the implementation of blockchain technology, farmers and consumers will have control over their traceability in addition to analyzing and enhancing environmental values.

Consumers will have the possibility of viewing information such as the origin of the product, its production process and different indicators. Likewise, farmers can use the tool to control the produce and achieve greater competitiveness within the sector.

The BISITE Group, together with other groups and entities of the University of Salamanca (the CIALE, the IME and the Department of Business Administration and Economics), the University of León, Ibercom, the University of Extremadura, DEHESA Grande, De Heus, Imasde, UGAVAN, the Agrarian Technological Institute of Castilla y León, MSD Animal Health and the Association Ganaderos 19 de abril participate in the project that will increase transparency and food safety in livestock farming in the region.

Here is a video in which we explain how the platform works and the benefits it offers to users.
