Smart city management in IoTSC2021

Last week, I gave a plenary talk at the International Conference on Internet of Things and Smart Cities (IoTSC2021), organized by the UTHM University. During the event, I presented our smart city concept, as well as discussed how AIR Core can facilitate the creation of powerful systems to monitor, understand and predict what happens in a smart city.

During my presentation, I also discussed the importance of complementary technologies, such as IoT and Blockchain, in the development of smart systems. We presented some projects that we are developing at the AIR Institute, among them Expand IntelWines which is supported by the European initiative EXPAND SmartAgriHubs. It is based on the development and implementation of new artificial intelligence techniques in the production process of a winery, to support decision making and improve food safety.

It also demonstrated how tools such as AIR Core make it possible to create IT systems efficiently and effectively. The platform is based on a powerful tool that is easy to use and facilitates the construction of intelligent systems in an agile and collaborative way. We have seen how an optimal combination of IoT, AI and blockchain technology can guarantee powerful models which improve efficiency, sustainability, mobility, security, etc. in smart cities, with practical examples in cities such as Doha, Istanbul, Melbourne, Barcelona or Salamanca.
