Smart and sustainable cities

A few weeks ago the » Sustainable Smart Cities and Territories International Conference» (SSCt 2021) took place, which had been organized by the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca, together with the Texas A&M University in Qatar, the AIR Institute and the IoT Digital Innovation Hub. At the event, we were able to enjoy interesting presentations, workshops and the latest research on everything related to smart cities and territories.

SSCt 2021 was a three-day event that brought together researchers and specialists in technologies, especially those that play an important role in the development of smart cities.

Speakers included experts such as Ali Al Kuwari, Honorary Speaker at the conference and acting CEO of Msheireb Properties; Asmaa Al-hemaidi, project coordinator at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, who works directly on Qatar’s National Smart Digital Transformation Program (TASMU); Tan Yigitcanlar, director of the Australia-Brazil Smart Cities Research and Practice Network; Eduardo Martínez Gil, director of INDRA’s Smart Cities Center of Excellence; and Enrique Díaz-Plaza Sanz, director of business development at IBM.

For their part, researchers from different fields presented their research work, which will be published in scientific journals such as Electronics or ADCAIJ.

It has certainly been an interesting event that gave us a perspective of what is happening and what is to come in terms of innovation in our cities.

Here is a brief recap on what happened at SSCt 2021:
