The BISITE group from the University of Salamanca has participated in the development of the SIE project- EPIDEMIOLOGICAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM FOR DECISION MAKING SUPPORT IN THE CONTROL OF COVID-19 IN LATIN AMERICA.
We collaborated on the development of the platform and the algorithm to be implemented in a decision support portal for health professionals and those involved in managing the pandemic.
The system includes a mathematical model for the virus spread and the effect of health interventions, a data storage and analytics structure that tracks and visualizes the geo-referenced spread of the virus, and also integrates an economic model that allows for the aggregation of financial evaluations to optimize decision making.
It has been a challenge, due to the short time frame of project development, and the need to create a useful and dynamic platform that adapts to the needs of all the actors in this complex scenario.
It has been great to work with a group of researchers from different Colombian centres and we are very satisfied with the work done by everyone. We have learned a lot from this project.
