Artificial Intelligence and IoT drive smart farming

At the BISITE research group we are working on different projects aimed at improving agricultural activities through the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and Blockchain; technologies which optimize the quality of processes and services.

AIR Core is a platform that guarantees the traceability and automation of data, offers endless advantages to farmers and other companies, as it provides access to real-time and historical data, makes predictions, classifications and simulations. Using artificial intelligence, it helps visualise areas that need to be improved and to propose new strategies.

The Sostvan project uses a large part of these technologies. It seeks to improve the sustainability of the suckler cow farming sector by applying different technological solutions. Rural-IOT is another project in the livestock sector, where we apply sensing and the Internet to improve agricultural production. Moreover, MilkMeter aims to optimize milk yields through the development of a measuring device.

We are also working on solutions for the wine sector, CHAINWINES is one of them. It is a blockchain platform for the traceability of wine in order to guarantee quality in the production of high range wines. Meanwhile, IntelWine aims to develop and apply artificial intelligence to reduce the level of sulphites in the winery, while optimising the irrigation system in the vineyards, thus guaranteeing health and quality to consumers.

Among Smart Farming projects, there is also PROMIoTOR, which focuses on sustainability in this sector. WiForAgri 2021 is based on a low-consumption and low-cost IoT module, supported by Edge Computing technologies, for use in smart farming scenarios.

At the BISITE group, we are aware of the great benefits that technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things bring to us, especially if we can apply them in traditional sectors to create outstanding solutions.
