Proyecto UPPER

Smart textiles for protection against occupational hazards

Our UPPER project (aUgmented reality and smart personal protective equipment (PPE) for intelligent pRevention of occupational hazards and accessibility), aims to improve the safety of workers, especially in sectors where the risk of suffering an accident is high. We propose the use of PPE designed with smart textiles, sensors and actuators that monitor the state of the worker and the environment, forming an interconnected sensor network.

The team working on the project has not only designed PPE equipment with smart textiles, but it has also created a comprehensive solution that uses Augmented Reality and a visualization platform, for improved training in Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP).

UPPER has been funded by the Ministry of Employment of the Junta of Castile and Leon. It is a promising project that is likely to have a significant impact on industries.
