Today we received excellent news, the call for “SFI Centres for Research Training Programme“, extraordinarily well managed by the Science Foundation Ireland, has been approved.

Six of the projects that participated in the call have been selected. This programme will allow to recruit 700 technology specialists on long-term contracts. Those specialists will complete their doctoral thesis in each of the 6 new inter-university doctoral schools created within the framework of this call and funded by the Irish government.

It has been a pleasure for me to be part of the evaluation panel of the proposals and to see how 6 of them have triumphed. This programme will make Ireland proud and it will give a lot of opportunities to students who want to study in this country, within this framework of very competitive programmes run by universities and top research centres.
