I would like to congratulate one of our colleagues at BISITE, Alfonso González Briones on the prize he received for his thesis “A Multi-agent architecture for optimizing energy consumption using comfort agreements”. Alfonso has developed an extraordinary, intelligent and efficient energy management model.
For this excellent work he earned an award for the best national thesis on the topic of Smart Cities, at the first ever SENSORS+CIRTI Awards ceremony held as part of the Conference of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAEPIA).
CAEPIA gathers over 300 professionals and researchers from all corners of the world, where they talk about the latest advances in artificial intelligence (AI). This time, not only interesting talks had been delivered but it was also an opportunity to recognize the three best PhD thesis, whose themes were related to those of the congress. Among them, was that of Alfonso González Briones.
His model is based the design of a platform that captures data from the environment, to analyse them and take timely decisions with regards to the consumption of energy. Some of our projects, like EcoCASA and IOTEC, the architecture works with social computing techniques in order to adapt to the temperature and lighting preferences of the users.
It has been a pleasure for me to work with him as the director of his thesis. We have learned a lot together and this work has given way to interesting research projects, closely related to the industry of energy demand and the whole society in general.
Congratulations Alfonso, I wish you every success!
