The PocTec programme and its cross-border IOTEC project

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies is one of the drivers of technological development in different regions today.  The IOTEC project is part of the PocTec programme and is a collaborative effort between institutions from Castilla-León and the Central Region of Portugal. The aim is to promote the study and development of IoT at both theoretical and practical levels.

Moreover, the project strives to acquire greater knowledge on IoT technologies in order to favor technology transfer processes. It also aims to promote R&D&I in IoT technologies in regional business and industrial fabric. It will focus on SMEs working in the ICT field and innovative industrial SMEs, and on creating an inter-regional R&D&I action plan that will generate an ecosystem of work for added value in future IoT projects.

The association is led by the BISITE Research Group from the University of Salamanca and its members: CARTIF; Technological Centre; Castilla y León Associations Federation of Information, Communication and Electronics Technology Companies, AETICAL; the Innovation, Financing and Internationalisation Agency of Castilla y León, ADE; the Association for the Information, Communication and Electronics Technologies Pole, ICE. PT; Instituto Pedro Nunes and Associação do Cluster Agro-Industrial do Centro InovCluster.  This project (ref.: 0123_IOTEC_3_E) is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through PocTec (Spain-Portugal).

For various actors, this is a highly valuable project in an area of great importance and topicality.
