When it comes to the topic of energy, we tend to hear a lot about generation resources, distribution, sale and above all the rising prices charged by electricity companies. However, in this overflow of news, few talk of the aspects that current research is concerned with; new energy sources, economic transformation and distribution, waste management and efficient consumption.
ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) have been used in different scientific developments related to the area of energy. The Internet of Things, Blockchain, Big Data are becoming key elements of the latest advances in the subject of energy. These technologies together with progress in mobility make it possible to put into practice some of the latest innovations, in areas such as the management of vehicle fleets or the organization of traffic, merchandise and persons in big cities or important transport routes.
All these issues have been dealt with at the latest event granting awards to innovation and technology for energetic efficiency in the digital era. It has also become evident that we still have a long way to go in relation to aspects such as ICT and Artificial Intelligence and the potential of the professionals who dedicate their time to research in public and private entities. As I have already described in my previous post, at this event I received an award for the best director in the category of universities and research centers, which I am very grateful for. However, the greatest honor is to be able to work side by side with great professionals and to coordinate more than 25 projects in this field.
