These achievements have been possible thanks to the effort and dedication of those who came before us in the University; who were not only able to transmit knowledge, but fundamentally, they were and continue being able to produce it through research. The University of Salamanca is an epitome of research in multiple fields, both in the facets of Science and in Humanities. All this thanks to researchers who develop their activity under the wing of research groups, which enjoy national and international prestige.

In the end, the goal of innovation in all fields of knowledge, must be to find useful applications of what has been discovered, for the benefit of all citizens. This return of investment from research to our society has already been understood by Mr. Santiago Ramón y Cajal, one of our greatest scientists of all time.
