International experts at the TARG-3 Congress

Laser particle acceleration and sources of radiation, among the addressed topics.

The University of Salamanca hosts the international TARG-3 congress, at which many important specialists will present their latest technological advances in this field. The congress focuses on a very important part of experimentation; the acceleration of laser particles and radiation sources.  The Center for Ultrashort Ultraintense Pulsed Lasers has petawatt laser systems, such as the VEGA system, capable of reaching power rates of over 100 terawatts. However, this laser has high repetition rates if we compare it with ultraintense lasers which operate in a single shot mode.  The scientific and technological development of the different parameters used is necessary for adjusting to new requirements. Hence, the importance of meetings such as this one, in which new advances are presented. At the inauguration, I was accompanied by Ángela Fernández Curto, Deputy General Director of Large Scientific-Technical Facilities from the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness; Paul Bolton, Professor with Chair form the University of Munich; Luis Roso Franco, Director of the Center for Ultrashort Ultraintense Pulsed Lasers; y Luca Volpe, Director of the Laser-Plasms from the CLPU in the University of Salamanca.
