INCYL scientists study possible optic nerve regeneration in humans.

This research is based on the studies carried out on the zebrafish and its ability to restore eyesight.

The University of Salamanca is in the news again, as it has already been published in this post, for a research that has provided us with some extraordinary results and which was conducted by the scientist Juan Manuel Lara Pradas, endowed professorship in Cellular Biology and Pathology affiliated to the Neurosciences Institute of Castile and Leon (INCYL). This scientist developed a very interesting line of research focused on the degeneration and regeneration of the human visual system. To this end, the studies the developmental process in the zebrafish, which is capable of regenerating its optic nerve in case of experiencing some damage. The INCYL researchers are now faced with a passionate challenge because they have to develop therapeutic treatments that will succeed at restoring vision in persons with pathologies as usual as glaucoma and pituitary gland tumor.
