The TIDOP Research Group covers the international “Drones” magazine.

About an editorial project that just published its first issue.

The Information and Technology Research Group for the Digitalization of Complex 3D objects (TIDOP) from the University of Salamanca will lead an international ´Drones` journal, from MDPI, the renowned Swiss publisher.

This idea arose due to the great scientific potential in this field, as well as the possession of reliable software tools and own patents.

The great proliferation of drones in the last years joint with their multiple uses and applications, motivated the group to face this challenge. To do so, it carried out a market study on the topic of existing scientific journals in this field and it was discovered that, although the theme of drones had been proposed as “special issue” in various important scientific journals, there still was no international journal with a focus on this filed. A proposal was sent to the prestigious international MDPI publisher, which, after a thorough analysis of its characteristic and an analysis of the market study, accepted the release of this magazine. MDPI publishes numerous scientific peer-reviewed magazines which are of open-access. MDPI´s editorial boards already received various Nobel Prizes. All MDPI journals have an international index and a rigorous peer-revision process.

At the presentation I was accompanied by Diego González Aguilera, leader of the TIDOP research group.
