Collaborative research with companies: the new challenge

Last week the University organized a briefing to discuss the possibilities for financing research companies. Those that have worked on the development of scientific projects for over 10 years know how grant models for R+D changed in Spain.

We come from a system in which the majority of calls aimed at financing research projects that were 100% public. These projects operated with university groups and research organizations (PROs), through direct grants. However, since a few years the model has changed significantly, giving low or no interest loans for projects where public administrations collaborate with private companies, which are the ones receiving the aid.

On the other hand, the growing Villamayor Science Park, has more than fifty companies located in various areas, this makes it a perfect place to find business partners willing to participate in such projects. These companies make innovation their driver for growth, and they maintain a collaborative relationship with our University.
