A tool to detect how violent offenders write, what they talk about or where they commit offenses.

The results of the research and projects carried out at the University of Salamanca, and their application to our daily lives, today brings good news. Six researchers from the BISITE group have developed a tool that aims to detect violent groups on social networks, especially Twitter. Its goal is to detect and control the profiles of violent individuals based on how they write, what they talk about or where the offenses are carried out. The news was reported by both the El Mundo and La Gaceta newspapers.

The application uses a sentiment analysis in various languages and extracts information continuously, establishing the location of a dangerous user according to their publications in Twitter.

The field of action for this tool actually goes much further, as it can also be used in the world of marketing by allowing us to observe and study consumer behaviour and test the response of certain individuals for specific brands. Other uses include preventing school bullying by locating the instigator and those who follow the bullying online.

State law enforcement bodies have responded to the app, indicating an interest and are currently validating the method.
