Research in nanotechnology, microelectronics, photonics and climate change is top priority for the European Union.

The Doctorate programme for Applied Physics and Technology is among the top programmes at the University of Salamanca to generate the greatest number of scientific publications. The programme’s lines of scientific research have a very high potential for technology application and are a priority for the European Union, addressing issues such as nanotechnology, microelectronics, photonics and the most advanced techniques for manufacturing materials. Within the European strategies, these lines of research have the highest relevance, being directly related to studies on climate and energy efficiency.

The Doctorate programme for Applied Physics and Technology

At present there are more than twenty doctorates which ‘are focused on resolving societal problems’, states programme director Luis Plaja. ‘Some of these top lines financed by Europe in the Horizons 2020 programme are related to technological development in applied physics’ with such notable themes as graphene in renewable energy being researched at the University of Salamanca.
