While in Singapore, I learned of the passing of our dear colleague, Dr. José Antonio de Pedro, Professor of Orthopedics.

While I am deeply saddened by this loss, I find myself, upon recovering from the initial shock of this news, comforted by fond memories. On a professional level, as a colleague on the Research Commission, he always distinguished himself for his deep involvement and his valuable and generous contributions to his University, the University of Salamanca.

I have spoken with several colleagues who worked with him on an almost daily basis. Through them I have learned that in this other facet of his life at the Clinical University Hospital of Salamanca he was considered a very humane doctor, very involved with his patients and their families, diligent, affable and kind, and continually in search of ways to improve the system and orthopedic medicine in his Hospital, the Clinical University Hospital of Salamanca.
