Bringing the University closer to the public

The two informative pieces prepared by La Crónica de Salamanca have been published today. Two original interviews, one of them is particularly interesting as it responds directly to the citizens of Salamanca, who are directly linked to the University and who, of course, we also want to be part of this exciting project.

In response to the questions of the people of Salamanca, I would like to clarify that we seek to improve the communication and transfer of knowledge from the University to the citizens, adapting part of the training to the social needs of each university district in such a way that they can be more involved. We must make the effort to find out what is needed and match our offer with the demand, as well as retain the talent that we have in our classrooms and assure students that they can stay and develop their working careers in Salamanca, Zamora, Ávila and Béjar.

You asked me if we intend to introduce new degrees. We are going to review them and promote those that are needed, working closely with the faculties and centres, and understanding their wishes and needs. As we stated in our programme, we will design degrees with dual credits that make it possible to combine classroom activity with paid work, and we will complement degrees that are in low demand with double degrees.

As is evident in the current times and as we have been making clear in our visits to the centres and services of the University of Salamanca, we consider it more than opportune to take advantage of the technology within our reach, to commit ourselves to it and not to hesitate to make the most of its benefits. Yes, we are at a time of change and revolutions such as artificial intelligence will allow us to automate repetitive processes and tasks, reduce bureaucracy and, in short, be more agile and efficient.

I would like to thank La Crónica de Salamanca and Lira Félix for giving me the opportunity to respond directly to citizens interested in learning about our project. I invite you to read the article here and the series of short questions at this link.
